  • a drink made from lemon juice, sugar and water
    lemonade
  • a white substance that is added to food to make it taste better or to preserve it. It is obtained from mines and is also found in seawater.

  • a plant or part of a plant that is eaten as food. For example, potatoes, beans and onions.
    vegetable
  • a soft yellow food made from cream, used in cooking and for spreading on bread
    butter
  • two slices of bread, often spread with butter, with a layer of meat, cheese, etc. between them
    sandwich
  • when water is heated to the point where it forms bubbles and turns to steam or vapour
    boil
  • a powder made from dried berries, used to give a hot, spicy taste to food
    pepper
  • having a taste like that of a lemon or of fruit that is not ready to eat
    sour
  • a mixture of raw vegetables such as lettuce, tomato and cucumber, usually served with other food as part of a meal
    salad
  • the main meal of the day, eaten either in the middle of the day or in the evening
    dinner
  • an amount of something (e.g. cake, cheese) that has been cut or separated from the rest of it
    piece
  • the liquid that comes from fruit or vegetables; a drink made from this
    juice
  • a restaurant where you choose and pay for your meal before you carry it to a table. They are often found in factories, colleges, hospitals, etc.
