  • Protective Tariff

    This was a treaty with Spain that gave the US all land east of the Mississippi River (Except FL) as well as access to New Orleans for trade.

    Case that dealt with the Cherokee and stated they had federal protection from actions of the state governments

    This was a case that upheld the sanctity of of contracts against encroachment by state government

    This was passed by Adams and was in an attempt to limit the speech of Dem-Rep. by raising residency from 5-14 years, and jailed / deported them for speaking out

    1st challenge of new Constitution. Excise tax on grain, PA farmers rebelled and Washington led troops to put it down (fed. gov. enforced laws within states)
