    There is only one washing sink, not enough toilets, no privacy, little food and many die of starvation or illness.

    Wear a yellow star, not allowed to ride bicycles, use public transport, drive cars. Shop only at Jewish shops between 3 and 5 o clock. Page 18.

    She needs the diary to know her deepest thoughts because she has no close friends to tell her secrets to.

    The family were Jewish and wore yellow stars, so because of the anti-Jewish laws, the other people didn't want to get in trouble.

    The SS sent a call-up notice. They didn't want the Germans to take their belongings and to be sent away to camps.
