  • Your supervisor asks for volunteers to help with a new project.
    If you are able to do the job, show some initiative and volunteer!
  • Your boss gives you a pay raise because you are doing a great job!
    Congratulations! Keep up the good work and don't forget to thank your boss!
  • Your boss asks you to make some copies and the copy machine is jammed.
    If you have not been trained in clearing paper jams, ask a supervisor or coworker for help.
  • You start to feel sick at work and need to go home.
    Let your job coach or supervisor know.
  • Your supervisor quickly gives you directions and you aren't sure what she asked for. What can you say?
    "Can you repeat that, please?" " I need help." " I don't understand."
  • You need to leave work early one day for a doctor's appointment.
    Tell your boss as soon as you know, so they can adjust your schedule.
  • You run out of paper towels while cleaning up your workspace.
    Ask a supervisor for more. OR Ask where you can find them yourself!
  • You are disappointed with your evaluation from your job coach.
    Ask how you can do better, keep working hard!
  • While helping a customer, you suddenly need to use the bathroom.
    If you really need to go, have a coworker take over for you with the customer. Try to use the restroom during your breaks.
  • You are trying to work, but a coworker is distracting you. What can you say?
    ""I need space/quiet, please." "We can talk later." " I need to get back to work."
  • Your alarm didn't go off and you're going to be late for work.
    Call your boss and let them know you're running late.
  • You slip on the wet bathroom floor at work and bang your elbow on the ground.
    Tell your supervisor so they can report the accident and get medical help, if needed.
  • While working, you make a mistake or accidentally break something.
    Don't worry, accidents happen! Tell a supervisor so they can help you figure out how to make it right.
  • Your boss seems mad or frustrated with you but you don't know why.
    Ask them how you can improve or make corrections.
  • You are struggling to carry a heavy box.
    Ask for help.
  • A coworker cuts his hand.
    Go get help.
  • You finished all of your work early.
    Your work day is not over. Look for other tasks that need to be done, or ask a supervisor what you can do next.
  • You were supposed to leave the boxes open, but you accidentally taped them closed.
    Tell your supervisor OR Take off the tape!
  • A friendly coworker invites you to see a movie after work.
    Check your schedule and make sure it's ok with your parents.
  • You run out of gloves and you need them for work.
    Ask your job coach where you can find them.
  • Your bus is late and you don't know if you will make it to work on time.
    Call your supervisor and let them know, just in case!
  • Your job coach teaches you a new skill and you are not sure you understand what to do.
    Ask questions and pay close attention during the training. Take notes so that you can refer to them later
  • You forgot your work schedule for the week.
    Ask your supervisor, then write it down and keep it in a safe place.
  • You aren't feeling well and don't think you can go to work.
    Call your boss right away and let them know you will be out sick.
