  • I feel mad so I punch my iPad.
    This is unexpected. I can use a coping skill if I'm mad. I won't destroy school property.

    This is expected. My toys will distract me from my work if I have them out, so I'll put them away.
  • My feelings are hurt, so I tell my teacher that she is mean.
    This is unexpected. I can talk to my teacher calmly and tell her what's wrong. I will use I-statements and kind words.
  • I don't want to do work. I tell my teacher "no" when she says to get started
