  • Good Thoughts vs. Weird Thoughts
    Good thoughts- when people walk away from a conversation or interaction with you feeling good about it vs. Weird thoughts- when people have awkward thoughts
  • Unexpected Behaviors
    behaving in a way that is not expected for a given environment; people having "weird" thoughts
  • Wacky Guess (vs. Smart Guess)
    Wacky Guess- a guess you make that does not fit the situation or context; incorrect guess
  • Literal Language
    Saying what you actually mean
  • Whole Body Listening
    When your whole body is in the group (eyes, ears, mouth, hands, feet, brain); paying attention; communicating you are following
  • Perspective Taking
    I think about you, you think about me; how someone views something differently
  • Expected Behaviors
    unwritten rules for certain environments; how you are expected to behave; following social norms; people having "good thoughts"
  • Whopping Topic Changes
    Inserting random comments/thoughts that do not fit the conversational topic
  • Thinking Of You vs. Just Me
    Thinking of you- Considers what other people need or want in a group vs. Just me- just thinks about and acts upon what you want to do
  • Social Behavior Mapping
    Technique to understand how behaviors impact how others feel; natural consequences (positive or negative)
  • Smart Guess (vs. Wacky Guess)
    Smart Guess- guesses you make based on a fact or some information you have learned about a topic; using the context clues
  • Thinking With Your Eyes
    Using your eyes to figure out what non-verbal messages others are sending; guessing what they might be thinking
  • Friend Files
    Remembering information about others based on observations, conversations, interactions; using that information to start another conversation, ask questions
  • Figurative Language
    Sarcasm; language that can vary from different contexts; communication your brain may need to figure out
  • Flexible Brain/Thinking
    Thinking around a situation that may be different than we expected/anticipated; going with the "flow"; problem solving
  • Body Language
    Non-verbal communication your body displays (eye gaze, posture, hand movements)
  • Indirect Language
    Using words to communicate something without actually using the specific words
