  • How can you greet someone in your Red circle?

  • What would you do: You are home alone and someone knocks on your door. The person is wearing a uniform from the power company. When you ask "who is it?" He says he is from pacific power and that they will be doing repairs.
    Start asking him personal questions.
    Invite him inside.
    Tell him thank you. (close the door if you opened it).

    Personal Information (Name, Address, Phone Number)
  • Is the grocery store cashier a community helper?
    Yes! We can smile and say hello or wave, but we don't give out our name or address.
  • What boundaries do you think are important when interacting with community helpers and other professionals?
    Many of these people are considered strangers, but helping others is part of their job.
  • If you do have an emergency, and need to go to the hospital, what personal information is important to know?
    Parents' contact info, allergies, what medication you take if any.
  • If you find yourself in a situation in the community that you feel is uncomfortable, what is your strategy to leave that situation?
    It is helpful to have a plan ahead of time.
  • What would you do: You are having friends over to your house. One of your friends brings an older person that they just met in the park to your house and asks if they can hang out with everyone.
    Say if your parents don't know them, they can't come inside.
    Let the person in.
  • What would you do: You get a social media message from a person you don't know. They are asking for your phone number, home address, and email address.
    Give them your personal information.
    Don't give out any information. Block the person if you can.
  • Are there places you are going in the community by yourself or with friends without adults?
    This is expected for teenagers. It is important to have safety awareness and to know how to handle an emergency.

    No trust

    Family members, trusted adult, doctor, close friend
  • You are shopping in one of your favorite stores. Another shopper comes up to you and asks if you know where they can find a specific item.
    Smile and politely tell them you don't work there.
    Start oversharing about why you are in the store.
    Try to help them out if you know where the item is.
    Run away.

    Community helpers that we do not know, but they help us (doctors, nurses, firefighters police officers, mail carriers)
  • Is it okay to hug a stranger?
    No!
  • Who is in the RED circle?
    Strangers! These are people that we do not know at all. (we do not touch or talk to them, and we do not let them touch or talk to us)

    No. We never give out personal information to strangers.
