Ben looked at his shoes. “They’re dirty,” he said. “You played football again,” said Lucy, laughing. “Let’s clean them,” said Ryan. “I’ll get some water,” said Emma. Who said, “You played football again.”

“It smells so good,” said Lily, looking at the oven. “Cookies are almost ready,” said Mom. Ben peeked inside. “Can I try one?” “Wait a little longer,” said Dad. Who said, “Can I try one?”

“The bus is coming,” said Nora, waving. “I see it!” said Tom, jumping. “Don’t run,” said Lily, holding his arm. “Okay, I’ll walk,” said Tom, smiling. Who said, “Don’t run.”

Zoe pointed at the sky. “Look! A plane!” “I can’t see it,” said Tom, shading his eyes. “It’s over the trees,” said Emma. “Oh, now I see,” said Ben, waving. Who said, “It’s over the trees.”

Liam was reading a book on the sofa. “This story is funny,” he said. “What’s it about?” asked Ava. “It’s about a silly cat,” said Liam. “I want to read it too,” said Ben. Who said, “What’s it about?”

The lights went out. “It’s dark!” cried Nora. “Don’t be scared,” said Tom, holding a flashlight. “I can’t see anything,” said Mia. “The light is coming back,” said Ben. Who said, “Don’t be scared.”

The wind blew hard. “Hold your hat!” shouted Ryan. “Too late!” said Ava as her hat flew away. “I’ll get it,” said Noah, running fast. “Be careful!” said Mia. Who said, “I’ll get it.”

“Where’s my pencil?” asked Ella, checking her desk. “Here it is,” said Max, picking it up. “Thanks!” said Ella. “You’re always losing things,” laughed Zoe. Who said, “Here it is.”
