Jamal glanced at the clock and sighed. He couldn’t stop thinking about the test results.

You grab your backpack, rush out the door, and hope you won’t miss the bus.

Marcus slammed his locker shut, wishing he could just disappear.

Ethan high-fived his teammates. “We did it!” he cheered as the scoreboard lit up with their win.

I waved at Jasmine as I was leaving school.

Maria laughed at the joke, unaware that Ben was silently hoping she would notice him.

I raced into the kitchen. “Yes! You made my favorite cookies!” I shouted, grabbing one off the tray.

You walk into the cafeteria and look for a place to sit.

Lila laughed as the puppy jumped into her lap, while her brother silently wished it would choose him instead.

Sofia couldn’t stop smiling as she opened her present. “I’ve always wanted this!” she thought as she hugged her grandma.

Lena smiled confidently, but inside she worried about the speech. Her teacher, meanwhile, hoped she would finally relax.

Hamilton and Daisy whined with excitement when Scott got home. Hamilton’s tail wagged furiously as he thought about the walk she knew he would take her on.

Ella beamed as she crossed the finish line first. Behind her, Max felt proud too, knowing he had beaten his personal best.

Lila laughed with delight as the puppy jumped into her lap, feeling like the luckiest person in the world. Her brother smiled on the outside, but inside he wished the puppy had chosen him instead.

She placed her books on the desk and began writing as the bell rang.

You open the door, and everyone yells, “Surprise!” Balloons fall from the ceiling as you laugh.

We packed our bags quickly, nervous about missing the bus.

The dog barked loudly at the stranger and circled the yard.

I waved at Jasmine. “Hey, do you want to walk to class together?” I asked.
