    I can say, 'I feel sad, but maybe we can go another day.' I can choose a fun game to play inside instead.
  • You ask your friend to play, but they say “No.” You feel sad and left out. What can you do?
    I can say, 'Okay, maybe later!' and find something else fun to do. I can ask someone else to play.
  • You were playing with your favorite toy, and someone grabs it from you. You feel mad and want to yell. What can you do?
    I can take a deep breath and say, 'I was playing with that. Can I have it back when you're done?' Or ask a teacher or adult for help.
  • You ask your mom or dad for a treat or a toy, but they say, “No, not today.” You feel angry and want to yell. What can you do?
    I can say, 'Okay, maybe next time,' and find something else to do. I can squeeze my hands or count to five to calm down.
  • You accidentally spill your water all over the table. You feel embarrassed and want to hide. What can you do?
    I can say, 'Oops, it was an accident,' and help clean it up. Everyone makes mistakes.

    I can tell myself, 'Mistakes are okay,' and try to fix it or start again. I can take a break if I need to.

    I can take a deep breath, say 'Good game,' and remind myself it's okay not to win every time. I can try again next time!
  • Your class is voting on which book to read, and you picked your favorite, but most of the class picks a different one. You feel left out and frustrated. What can you do?
    I can take a deep breath and listen to the other story. I might like it too! Next time, maybe my choice will win.
