  • Daniel and Sam are discussing their weekend plans.Daniel says, “I’m going to my cousin’s birthday party on Saturday.” Sam says, “That sounds fun! I’ve got to go now: my mom’s waiting in the car. Bye!”
    Good. He let his friend finish talking, made a supportive comment, explained why he needed to go and said "Bye"

  • Jasmine and Lily are talking about their favorite animals. Lily says, “I really love elephants. They’re so big but gentle.” Jasmine interrupts, “ I need to go,” and walks away without another word.

  • Nina is telling Zoe about her new LEGO set. Nina says, “It has over 500 pieces and a moving drawbridge!” Zoe says "Nice!", and walks off without saying anything.

  • Ella and Grace are walking together after lunch. Grace says, “My dance recital is this weekend. I’m a bit nervous.” Ella says, “Oh. I have to go,” and walks away.
    Not very good. She let Grace finish talking and said she needed to go but didn't make a proper supportive comment and didn't say why needed to go.
  • Ben and Charlie are talking about their favorite sports. Charlie says, “I like basketball, but football is my favorite.” Ben says, “Cool! I like football too. I need to go find my water bottle: left it in the gym. See you later!”

  • Luca and Noah are talking during art class cleanup. Noah says, “I’m still working on my drawing of a dragon.” Luca says nothing and just walks away.
    Not good. Noah must be feeling confused and annoyed. Should have explained why he had to leave at least.
  • Tyler is telling Alex about a science experiment he did. Tyler says, “When I added vinegar to the baking soda, it exploded like a volcano!” Alex waits until Tyler finishes, then says,“Whoa, awesome! I need to go finish my homework.See you!"

  • Emma is telling Ava about her weekend trip. Emma says, “Then we went hiking up this huge mountain and…” Ava checks her watch, says, “That’s nice! I have to get to music class or I’ll be late. Talk to you later!”

  • Sarah is telling Mia about her new puppy. Sarah says, “She chewed up my slipper but I couldn’t even be mad because she’s so cute!” Mia smiles and says, “Aww, sounds adorable! I have to go help my group with the project now. Bye!”
