    Bolus, chyme, stool.

    Pharynx – Passageway for air and food. Larynx – Contains vocal cords; routes air to the trachea.

    A muscular tube that moves food from the mouth to the stomach. Peristalsis.

    Nose/nasal cavity, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi, bronchioles, alveoli, and diaphragm.
  • What are the key functions (4) of the digestive system?
    Ingestion, digestion, absorption, and elimination (egestion).

    Kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra.
  • What is the urinary system responsible for?
    The urinary system is responsible for filtering waste products from the blood, maintaining fluid balance, and regulating electrolytes and blood pressure.
  • What is the first part of the digestive system? What does it do?
    Mouth – Chews food and mixes it with saliva (contains enzymes) to begin digestion.
  • What are the key functions of the respiratory system? (5 pts for each correct answer!)
    Gas exchange, air filtration, sound production, smell, and pH balance.
