    30% of 500 = 150. Left = 350. 2/5 of 350 = 140. Total sold = 150 + 140 = 290
  • A student scored 80% on a math test with 25 questions. Then on a science test, she got 5/8 of the questions right. The science test had 32 questions. How many total questions did she answer correctly across both tests?
    Math: 80% of 25 = 20; Science: 5/8 of 32 = 20; Total = 20 + 20 = 40
  • An online store had 600 customers in one week. 1/3 of them bought electronics. 15% of those who bought electronics also bought accessories. How many customers bought accessories?
    1/3 of 600 = 200; 15% of 200 = 30
  • Out of 500 survey respondents, 0.6 preferred product A. Of those, 25% were aged under 18. How many people under 18 preferred product A?
    0.6 × 500 = 300; 25% of 300 = 75
  • A farmer harvested 250 apples. 40% of them were sold at the market. Of the remaining apples, 1/2 were used to make juice. How many apples were used for juice?
    0.4 × 250 = 100 sold; 250 - 100 = 150 left; half of 150 = 75
  • James saves $15 each week. After 8 weeks, he spent 2/5 of his savings on a video game. How much money does he have left?
    15 × 8 = $120; 2/5 of 120 = 48 spent; 120 - 48 = 72
  • A school has 360 students. 3/5 of them participate in extracurricular activities. Of those, 25% are in the drama club. How many students are in the drama club?
    3/5 of 360 = 216; 25% of 216 = 54
  • Lena spent 60% of her $250 gift card. She then spent half of the remaining amount on clothes. How much money did she spend on clothes?
    60% of $250 = $150 spent; $100 left. Half of $100 = $50
