Making a Good First Impression

You are the owner of a jewelry store and need some extra help. You are planning to interview several possible workers. "Hello" a young man says to you. "I'm here to apply for the job." You notice his ripped jeans and his old shirt.

An applicant for the job comes by. You are interested because her hair is combed nicely, she had nice clothes, and you smell a nice perfume! You ask, "what is your name," and she does not stop talking for at least 20 minutes.

"Yeah, Ok. Whatever." What impression does this give?

Is this appropriate: Are you really going to wear those shoes?

"Don't worry if you don't understand right away. I'll keep explaining!" What impression does this give?

You're interviewing a third person. "Good afternoon," she says. Her smile is friendly and she appears to be confident. You find out she has a lot of experience in sales.

"Show me how you drew that! Give me a pencil, may I try?" What impression does this give?

"When I tell you to do something, you must do what I say. When I say how I tell you to do it, don't question me, just do it!" What impression does that give?

Is this appropriate: Did you dye your hair?

"Where did you live before you lived here? What do you like to do? Would you like to go with us to the mall?" What impression does that give?

Is this appropriate: "Hey your skin looks a whole lot better since you've been going to the doctor. Are you still going for treatments?"

Is this appropriate: "I heard your dad was sick. Do you think he's going to die?

Is this appropriate: "Where are you going? When will you be back? Can I go with you?"

"Watch. You put this CD/DVD in here. Then you push these two buttons. Now wait for the light to go on." What impression does this give?
