    Heavy-going - used to describe sb/sth that is difficult to deal with or understand.
  • It was a ... (creepy/haunting/witty) film which stayed with me long after I left the cinema.
    Haunting - beautiful, but in a sad or frightening way that cannot be forgotten.

    Fast-paced - moving, changing or happening very quickly.
  • It had a ghostly atmosphere. This film was just too (creepy/thought-proving/unconventional) for me.
    Creepy - causing an unpleasant feeling of fear or slight horror.
  • The characters were totally ... (complex/convincing/implausible). I couldn't take any of them seriously.
    Implausible - not seeming reasonable or likely to be true.
  • It was a(n) ... (heart- warming/implausible/slow-paced) story which restored my faith in human nature.
    Heart-warming - causing feelings of happiness and pleasure.

    Gripping (=riveting, compelling) - very exciting and interesting, making you want to watch, listen or read.

    Intriguing - very interesting because of being unusual or not having an obvious answer.
  • The risk with performances like this is if the songs are ...(appalling/implausible/thought-provoking), then it’s really not enjoyable.
    Appalling - very bad, unpleasant, disappointing and/or shocking.
  • It was a wonderful story, so ... (moving/tedious/thought-provoking) I cried.
    Moving - making you feel strongly an emotion such as sadness, pity or sympathy.
  • It was a(n) ... (appalling/disjointed/ thought-provoking) documentary that raised many interesting questions.
    Thought-provoking - interesting in a way that makes you think  seriously about a particular subject.
