Slur
This symbol is a curved line connecting notes of the same pitch; connected notes are played as one unbroken sound/tone. Hint: it's a rhythm
Tie
This note gets 1/2 beat in 2/4, 3/4 and 4/4 time.
Eighth note
This rest gets 1/2 beat in 2/4, 3/4 and 4/4 time.
Eighth rest
This symbol adds half the notes value to it.
The dot
This note receives three beats in 3/4 and 4/4 time.
Dotted Half Note
This note receives 1 1/2 (1.5) beats in 2/4, 3/4 and 4/4 time.
Dotted quarter note
Flats or sharps (or not flats or sharps) at the beginning of the staff. It is located between the clef sign and time signature.
