    Because different things let in more or less light.

  • When there's light,
    you can see people, toys, books—everything around you.

    When something blocks light—like your body—the light can’t go through. This makes a shadow.

  • Then that light goes into your eyes,
    and your brain helps you understand what you’re looking at!

    When light hits something (like your toy), it bounces off it.
  • 💡 Some lights are made by people.
    These are called man-made lights
  • 🕶️ That’s why when you stand in the sunlight,
    you can see your shadow on the ground.
  • These help us see in the dark,
    like when you do homework at night!

    Other stars make light too, but they’re far away.
