    USA. They emerged from the war richer because they benefitted from the sale of weapons during war. They also joined the war later in 1917.

    Resentment and bitterness, political and economic crisis, invasion of Ruhr, hyperinflation, political instability, exploitation by Hitler’s Nazi Party
  • Compare the geographical location of Britain, France and USA to Germany. Which country is the furthest from Germany? How does the distance affect how they feel about Germany?
    USA. not as scared / worried about Germany’s abilities

    France. Lot of deaths and devastation to large parts of industrial regions
  • Who is David Lloyd George and what did he want for his country at the Paris Peace Conference?
    Prime Minister of Britain. Wanted to rebuild British economy and strengthen Britain’s security against Russia (likely to turn Communist at that time)
  • What is the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk and which countries were involved? What were the consequences of the Treaty?
    A treaty that Germany forced Russia to sign when Russia wanted to exit WW1. Russia had to give up land, population and pay reparations.
  • Who is Woodrow Wilson and what did he want for his country at the Paris Peace Conference?
    President of USA. Wanted to prevent another world war and build a more peaceful world, and self-determination
  • Who is Georges Clemenceau and what did he want for his country at the Paris Peace Conference?
    Prime Minister of France. Compensation for the damage caused by WW1 & harsh punishment for Germany so that France’s security would not be threatened again
  • Describe how the Germans felt about the terms of the Treaty of Versailles. A bonus of 5 points will be awarded for additional descriptions.
    Unfair, major blow to their German pride and economy, insulted
  • Compare the geographical location of Britain, France and USA to Germany. Which country is the nearest to Germany? How does the proximity affect how they feel about Germany?
