  • Carrying seeds:
Some seeds stick to animal fur or feathers, like little hitchhikers
  • Examples:
    Dandelion seeds
  • Embryo
  • Parts of a Seed
  • 3. Animals
  • This is the part of the seed that stores food for the baby plant.
It gives the seed energy to start growing before it can make its own food.
  • A seed has three main parts, like a tiny plant packed in a shell:
  • Example
    Burdock seeds
  • Some seeds are very light and have special shapes, like wings or fluff, that let them float in the air.
  • are small parts inside fruits that can grow into new.......
    PLANTS
  • The embryo is the baby plant inside the seed.
It will grow into the stem, leaves, and roots of a plant when the seed starts growing.
  • Fruits
  • The seed coat is the outside layer of the seed.
It protects the seed, like a shield, from getting hurt or drying out.
  • Seed Coat
  • Example:
The brown skin on a bean is its seed coat.
  • Fruits and Seeds:
  • Seeds
  • Example
    Pea plants
  • maple seeds
  • Examples:
    Coconut seeds
  • How Seeds Move to Different Places
  • 1. Wind
  • Animals help move seeds in two ways:
  • Some plants have seed pods that burst open and shoot seeds far away!
  • They can be sweet, like apples and mangoes, or not sweet, like tomatoes and cucumbers.
  • Eating seeds:
Animals eat fruits with seeds, like berries, and later the seeds come out in their droppings in a new place.
  • Seeds can’t walk or run, but they have cool ways to travel and find new places to grow!
  • Fruits grow from the flowers of plants.
  • 2. Water
  • For example, an apple has seeds inside it that can grow into.....
    apple trees.
  • Fruits
Fruits are the part of a plant that holds seeds.
  • 4. Explosion
  • Seeds that grow near rivers, lakes, or oceans can float and travel with the water.
  • Stored food (Cotyledon)
