  • What does saliva do?
    Saliva makes the food soft and easier to chew and swallow.

    We swallow after we chew.

    It is the digestive system.

    It mashes the food into small pieces. Stomach acid makes solid food a liquid.

    It finishes digesting the food and absorbs nutrients like vitamins and minerals.
  • What does the large intestine do?
    It absorbs water and stores waste (poop).
  • Where does digestion begin?
    Digestion begins in the mouth.
  • What is in the neck?
    Inside the neck is the esophagus and the treachea.
  • What do the lips do?
    They keep your food in your mouth.
  • What is in the abdomen?
    Inside the abdomen are the stomach, small intestine, and large intestine.
  • What does the tongue do?
    It tastes the food to tell our brain if the food is sour, sweet, salty, spicy, or meaty.
