  • "I really like playing board games."
    say if you like playing board games also, ask what board games they like or their favorite board games, talk about board games you have played, etc.
  • "I painted another art piece."
    talk about what they painted, ask to see it if possible, ask what they like painting, talk about what other types of art they like to make, etc.
  • "I really like photography."
    ask what they like talking pictures of, ask what type of photography they do, ask if you can see their pictures sometime, ask about their camera, etc.
  • "I saw the Barbie movie this weekend."
    ask about the movie, who they went with, if they liked it or not, etc.
  • "My dog hasn't been feeling well lately."
    ask what's wrong, say that you hope their dog is ok, ask if there is anything you can do to help, etc.
  • "I really like collecting Pokemon cards."
    ask what cards they have, ask what got them into collecting cards, ask about their favorite Pokemon, talk about other Pokemon activities such as Pokemon Go
  • "I want to go to Homecoming this year."
    ask if they are going with anybody, ask about what they are going to wear, ask about the theme, talk about dance moves and what music they like to dance to
  • "I want to try out for the school musical this year."
    ask what the musical is, ask if they have been in a play or musical before, wish them good luck, give them some encouragement, ask about characters, etc.

    ask what they built, ask if you can see it, say that you like Minecraft if you like Minecraft, etc.

    talk about Cirque du Soleil shows they have seen, ask about their favorite things about Cirque du Soleil shows, mention if you have seen Cirque Du Soleil shows
  • "I want to try out for a choir."
    ask which choir they want to audition for, wish them good luck, ask them what kind of songs they like to sing, ask what type of music the choir sings, etc.

    ask why they like music class, ask what they are learning in music class, ask who the teacher is, say that you like music class too if you like music class

    ask what they like to bake, ask who taught them how to bake, mention if you like baking too, ask what their favorite thing to bake is, etc.
