    Body/muscles are tense, shaking, arms up or outstretched, AHHHH!, eyebrows raised, mouth open

    Crying or tearful, frowning, low energy, head down, body slouched over
  • A classmate is doing something that makes you upset or mad. What should you do?
    Use a coping strategy and ignore them, ask staff for help, talk to staff, ask them nicely to "please stop"
  • You are writing a sentence for journal and you misspelled a word, you feel upset and write "WRONG" over your entire paper in big letters. Is that a good choice?
    No, you can try again, ask for help, erase or cross out the word and keep writing
  • Staff says "Hello" to you when you sign onto class. What is something kind you could say or do back to them?
    Say "hello" "hi" "hey", wave, nod your head
  • You are making loud noises while playing on the iPad at school, another student says to you "can you please stop?". What should you do?
    Try to stop making noises, lower your voice, or ask to play the iPad in an area where you can make louder noises.
  • A classmate asks you to play with them during recess but you would rather play by yourself. What can you say?
    "Thanks for asking but I'm going to play by myself" "No thanks, I don't want to play right now" "I don't want to play maybe you can ask someone else"
  • You feel angry that another student is using the iPad for their break and you have to wait. So you decide to read a book until the iPad is available. Is that a good choice?

    Face feels hot, muscles get tense or tighten, clenched fists, wanting to scream or yell, wanting to punch/kick/throw

    Lots of energy, jumping up and down, clapping, arms up/moving, saying "Woohoo!" or "Yes!"
  • One of your classmates looks sad today, what can you do?
    Talk to them, tell them a joke, share something with them, make them something (a coloring picture)
  • Another coping strategy is to laugh, tell yourself a joke! What do you call 2 bananas?
    Slippers.
  • Nobody's perfect, what is something kind you can say to yourself when you make mistake?
    "I can do this" "making mistakes is a part of learning" "little mistakes will not ruin my day"
