Color changes (pale, cyanosis), grunting, head-bobbing, tachycardia, nasal flaring, retractions, dyspnea, tachpnea.
What are the pediatric variations in the respiratory system anatomy that differs from an adult?
Narrower airways, shorter necks, large tongues, infants being nose and abdominal breathers, smaller/narrower nasal passages.
What are potential asthma triggers?
Pollen, smoking, exercise, mold, infections, food, medicines, dust mites, stress, pollution, pet dander, cold air.
What adventitious lung sound is heard in children with croup syndrome disorders?
Stridor
What medications/vitamins would be part of the care of a chid with cystic fibrosis?
Pancrelipase, vitamins ADEK, antibiotics, bronchodilators, mucolytics
What are nursing interventions for a child with RSV bronchiolitis?
Place on contact/droplet precautions, rest, humidified mist, O2, pulse ox monitoring, antiviral medication Ribavirin
List post-op tonsillectomy care for the child.
Facilitate drainage, prevent aspiration, pain meds, prevent irritation to site, VS, signs of hemorrhage, hydration, ice collar
