Explain the system of sharecropping. What was the role of the freed slaves? What was the role of the landowers?
Freed slaves could live and work on the land of landowners. They would provide all the labor in exchange for living there and a small percentage of the crops.
What was the Freedmen's Bureau?
It provided food, shelter, and school for freed slaves after the Civil War.
