Because it gave everything to Mr Hyde, even if Jekyll simply disappeared, and he thought something was wrong with it.

Because it means Jekyll trusts him completely, even though Hyde is strange and unpleasant.

To receive someone’s possessions after they die.
What does Poole say about Mr Hyde's visits to the house?
That Mr Hyde has a key, they have orders to obey him, but he is not often seen and never stays for dinner.
What does frowning mean?
Having an unhappy or serious expression on your face.
What kind of person is Mr Hyde, based on this chapter?
He is unfriendly, strange, hard to describe, and has an unpleasant voice and personality.
