וַיָּשָׁב רְאוּבֵן.
and Reuven returned
וּבִמְכִירָתוֹ
and at his selling
לֹא הָיָה שָׁם,
he was not there
שֶׁהִגִּיעַ יוֹמוֹ
that his day arrived
לֵילֵךְ וּלְשַׁמֵּשׁ אֶת אָבִיו
to go and serve his father
דָּבָר אַחֵר,

עָסוּק הָיָה
he was busy
בְּשַׂקּוֹ וּבְתַעֲנִיתוֹ
with his sackcloth and his fasting
עַל שֶׁבִּלְבֵּל
that he mixed up
יְצוּעֵי אָבִיו
the bed of his father
