Everyone is stressed and unhappy about their situation. There is little space and no way to relax. No one is sleeping and the food is miserable.
Why is Anne and her mother's relationship not good?
Anne's says that her mother pushed her away by making cruel comments and jokes, which she didn't find funny.
What does Mr. Dussel tell them about the outside world?
German soldiers are looking for Jews to arrest. They knock on doors and pay people for information. In the dark you see lines of people walking to their death.
Why did they decide to let another person live in the annexe?
They have enough room and food. Otto Frank wanted to help someone else to hide from the Germans.
