What could you do? You go to the library in search of a book. For the last three times, it is not in. You are about to give up.
Ask about getting on a wait list, see if there are similar books. Accept that sometimes, there are things beyond our control.
Is this having an open mind? You are about to do your homework. You can't find your pencil, so you tell yourself "I'm not doing it without my favorite pencil".
It's okay to ask for a different pencil. Be open to doing your work with another writing instrument.
What might be a different way you could view this? You are running late to school. You think to yourself "if i just keep moving slow, I won't have to go. I'm already too late".
Use Self Talk to view in a different way: "People are late sometimes", "it's better to be late than not go at all", "I can pick up the pace".
What would you do? You were supposed do a special art project today, but your teacher is out sick. Your substitute has a different plan for art today.
Realize that things change. Use self talk and remind yourself that it's not that big of a deal, and you can do the project when your teacher is back.
What would you do? Your teacher gives back your paper and requests that you add more detail. You like it the way it is.
Have a growth Mindset. Remember that your teacher is trying to grow your writing skills! Be open to adding more details.
What do you do? Last week, your music teacher said that you will be able to play the guitar first, but the next time you have music, she chose someone else.
It is possible that your music teacher forgot. You can use a calming strategy, use self talk to remind yourself it's not that big of a deal.
