What does "yearn" mean?
To really, really want something. Usually for something/someone you can't get easily. (I yearn to travel the world someday.)
What does "Vague" mean?
To lack clarity, not much information. Unclear, and hard to understand. (The directions were vague so I got lost easily.)
What does "serene" mean?
A person/place that is peaceful, calm, and clear. (She remained serene through difficult times.)(The landscape was picturesque and serene.)
What does "optimistic" mean?
To have a very positive outlook on challenges and life generally. (He was optimistic about winning the game.)
What does "benevolent" mean?
To show kindness, understanding, and generosity. (Monks are benevolent people. They do no harm and help those in need.)
What does "negotiate" mean?
to have formal discussions with someone in order to reach an agreement with them. (I'm negotiating for a new contract.)
What does "repair" mean?
to fix something that's damaged or broken. (the computer repair man repaired my broken hard drive)
What does to "settle (something)" mean?
resolve or reach an agreement about (an argument or problem). "every effort was made to settle the dispute"
What does "eloquent" mean?
An eloquent speaker expresses themselves clearly and powerfully via oral speech or writing. i.e. "HCM was an eloquent speaker who inspired many with his words."
What does "encourage" mean?
To inspire someone with confidence/hope. "He wouldn't have accomplished his weight-loss goal without the encouragement of his trainer."
What does "exaggerate" mean?
to stretch the truth in an over the top way/do something in an excessive way. i.e. "She clearly exaggerated his singing skills, she was terrible!"
