Someone makes fun of your lunch.

Direct communication: "I like what I brought. Please don’t make fun of my food."

A peer leaves you out of a game on purpose.

Passive response: Walk away and play something else without saying anything.

Someone says you’re not good at something.

Direct communication: "That was unkind. I’m still learning, and I’m trying my best."

A classmate keeps copying your answers.

Direct communication: "I worked hard on this. Please do your own work."

Someone keeps calling you a nickname you don’t like.
