Give them time to respond. Ask them a question you know they know the answer to.
What should you do if multiple people start talking at the same time in a class discussion?
Everyone stop and wait until the teacher calls on one person at a time.
How can you tell if your story/answer has gone on longer than the listener wants it too?
People look bored, the teacher asks you to wrap up your says "OK, Ok, good" or ""Thank you, let's move on."
What should you do if someone interrupts you while you are talking?
Tell them you are not finished. Ask them to wait until you finish your thought.
How do you know when it is your turn to talk in a conversation?
The person asks you a question or finishes their thought at pauses.
