Teacher is suggesting that people have been turning in their work without names on them and they want you to check to make sure your name is on your paper.
"I can always make it homework."
Teacher wants you to work on the assignment at school.
"It's getting close to the end of the quarter. You might want to check your grade."
Teacher wants you to make sure all your work is turned in and you have a good grade.
"Can everyone check the bottoms of their shoes?"
Teacher wants you to look to see if you have dirt (or something else) on the bottom of your shoes and if you find something, clean it.
"Please don't wait until the last minute to start this project."
Teachers wants you to get working on it right way because it's more work that you can do in a small amount of time and they want you to get a good grade.
"Students, remember - no charging your computer in class."
Teacher wants the person who is charging their computer to unplug it and charge it at home.
"I'll answer questions at the end of this part of the lesson."
Teacher wants students to put down their hands and listen and see if your question is answered.
"How can you get anything done when you are playing games?"
Student is playing games and the teacher wants them to stop playing games and do their work.
"How can you find anything in that backpack?"
There is a lot of stuff in that backpack and they are suggesting you should clean it out.
"I've seen you write neater than that."
They are saying that your handwriting is poor and that you should put more effort into it.
You are walking with a friend to class, he says, "If we don't speed up we are going to be late!" What is he really saying?
He is using indirect language to say "Hurry up!"
At the dinner table, your mom points to the ketchup and says "Are you using that?" What does mom want you to do?
Mom used indirect communication, she would like you to pass the ketchup
You are in the living room with your grandma, she says "My isn't it cold in here?" What does Grandma want you to do?
Grandma used indirect communication, she would like you to turn on the heat or bring her a blanket.
