Harmony
This principle shows the difference in elements- it can be done with colors, shapes, textures, etc.
Contrast
This principle shows a design that is created through designs and colors.
Pattern
the repeating of an object or symbol all over the work of art.

created when one or more elements of design are used repeatedly to create a feeling of organized movement.
Rhythm
the path the viewer’s eye takes through the artwork, often to focal areas.
Movement
the use of several elements of design to hold the viewer’s attention and to guide the viewer’s eye through the work
Variety
is the part of the design that catches the viewer’s attention.  The area could be different in size, color, texture, shape, etc.
Emphasis
When drawing the human figure, it can refer to the size of the head compared to the rest of the body
Proportion
This principle describes how our eyes travel across an artwork.
Movement
is the distribution of the visual weight of objects, colors, texture, and space.
Balance
When all elements are in agreement, a design is considered unified. No individual part is viewed as more important than the whole design.
