What do I do with facial hair?
Lots of options! Shave it, grow it, style it, trim it - be creative!
When does puberty start?
Usually between ages 8 and 14
Can I date now that puberty has started?
Maybe! Depends if you want to, have the opportunity to, and are ready to date more than puberty.
Will I get crushes on other people?
Maybe! Some get a lot of crushes, some have no crushes, and everything in between.
What if I get an erection?
Erections as healthy and private. It will go away on its own, but you can try thinking about something else, sitting down, holding a bag in front of it, etc.
Pee comes out of your penis. During puberty, another liquid forms that will come out of your penis. What is it called?
Semen. It is whitish and sticky. When it comes out of the penis, it is called ejaculation.
What is an erection?
When a penis grows harder and longer. It can happen when I am excited, have sexual feelings, or for no reason at all. It means my penis is healthy and normal.
Will I have a beard?
Maybe! Testosterone causes facial hair to grow, yet every body grows facial hair differently. You could grow a beard, moustache, both or neither.
What will happen to my voice?
It will change as my larynx (voice box/Adam's apple) grows. It might sound very different for awhile. Eventually, it will be lower and deeper.
Will my body change shape during puberty?
Yes. All bodies grow taller during puberty. Bodies with testosterone often get wider in the chest and shoulders. Many will gain weight. It is all healthy!
What happens to a body during puberty?
It grows and changes from a child's body to an adult body.
Why will I need to buy new clothes and shoes?
Growth spurts
Where will I notice new body hair?
Arm pits, around my genitals (vulva or penis and anus), and sometimes face, legs, arms, bum and more!
What feelings will I feel more and stronger during puberty?
The mads (red zone), sads (blue zone), and glads (yellow zone)
What if you notice body odor from your arm pits?
Shower and use deodorant
What if you have greasy hair?
Wash your hair with shampoo or take a shower
What if you notice oily skin or pimples?
Wash your face with face wash.
