What is the difference between an analog clock and a digital clock? Can you show an example of each in the classroom?

An analog clock has an hour hand and minute hand to point to the hours and minutes. A digital clock just uses numbers to tell the time. Show examples.

Use the large clock in the classroom to show 4:50.

The hour hand should be close to the 5 on the clock and the minute hand should be pointing at the 10.

Show half past 4 on the large clock in the classroom.

The hour hand should be in between the 4 and 5 on the clock and the minute hand should be pointing at the 6.

Show a quarter past 12 on the large clock in the classroom.

The hour hand is slightly past the 12 and the minute hand is on the 3.

We started playing a game at 3:50. Would it make more sense for this to be 3:50 a.m. or 3:50 p.m.?
