Anything that can be seen on the computer screen.

Graphic

An image formed by a pattern of dots called pixels.

Raster Graphics

Dots that combine to create an image on a computer monitor.

Pixels

An image that is created using paths or lines.

Vector graphic

Tells how many pixels are in an image. It's usually measured in dots per inch (dpi). The higher the resolution, the sharper the image will look.

Resolution

A program that allows users to create a new raster image. It also opens, views on-screen, and make changes to the image.

Paint Program

A program that lets you create and edit vector images. They focus on vector images and make editing easy. You can change the size of an image or add color to it. Usually built into other programs.

Draw Program

The blank, white area found in the application which contains the graphic.

Workspace

A bar across the top or down the side of a window. Contains icons that link to the program's tools.

Toolbar

Allows the user to choose a color.

Color Palette

Programs that uses broad strokes of color. The shape of the brush can be changed to create different shapes of colors.

Brush

A tool that allows you to draw lines and shapes and use the toolbar to change its color and width.

Line and Shapes

A tool that captures the exact color from an object on your screen and then applies the color to any shape, picture, or text.

Eyedropper

A tool that removes color from an image.

Eraser

Selection tools allows a user to select a portion of an image to be enlarged, moved, or edited. This type of tool can be found on Vector Graphic Programs
