crowdfunding: the practice of getting a large number of people to each give small amounts of money in order to provide the finance for a project, typically using the internet

downvote/upvote: to click (= choose) a symbol to show that you dislike or disagree with something you have read or seen on the internet
verb: Anyone who creates an account can post comments on the topic, and can also upvote or downvote other people's comments.
earworm: a song that you keep hearing in your head
noun: I haven't been able to get it out of my head since last week. I have an earworm!
meme: an idea, image, video, etc. that is spread very quickly on the internet

staycation: a holiday that you take at home or near your home rather than travelling to another place
noun: It's easy to have a staycation in a place like NYC.
trend: a general development or change in a situation or in the way that people are behaving
noun/verb: There's been a downward trend in sales in the last few years
photobomb: to appear behind or in front of someone when their photograph is being taken, usually doing something silly as a joke
verb: We were photobombed by a guy dressed in a gorilla suit.
tweet: a message put on Twitter to let people know what you are doing, thinking, feeling
noun: I write a tweet.
checkout: the place in a shop, especially a large food shop, where you pay for your goods
noun: Your fruit and vegetables will be weighed at the checkout.
take off:If an aircraft, bird, or insect takes off, it leaves the ground and begins to fly

look up: to become better
noun: I hope things will start to look up in the new year.
