What is a vacuum?

a region that contains no matter (an empty space with no air)

What is a light source

an object that emits its own light e.g. the sun.

What is the difference between a luminous and a non-luminous object?

an object which is a source of light is luminous. An object which is not a source of light is non-luminous.

What is transmitted light?

light that passes straight through an object.

What is reflected light?

light that bounces off an object.

What is light refraction?

is the change of direction of a light ray when it enters or leaves a transparent material.

What is light dispersion?

is the splitting up of white light into separate colours.

What is a permanent magnet?

an object which stays magnetized for a long time. It doesn’t stop being magnetized after it has been used.
