Informational Text
come to a reasonable conclusion based on evidence found in the passage, and schema.
Inference
idea or message is stated directly by the author. The author tells the readers exactly what they need to know
Explicit
The most important idea that the author is trying to say
Main Idea
The facts and ideas that support the main idea of a passage
Key Details
ontains the most important points from a passage but does not give all the details.
Summary
refers to the way in which a piece of writing is structured. Example: Compare and Contrast.
Text Structure (Organization)
The order in which a series of events happens. A passage that is arranged in order of time from the beginning to the end.
Chronological Order
This is a relationship where one thing causes another thing to happen
Cause and Effect
identifies a problem and proposes one or more solutions
Problem and Solution
A description of events written or told by someone who was actually there.
Firsthand Account
A description of events written or told by someone who was not actually there but who got the story from another source.
Secondhand Account
Something that proves the truth of something else. in the form of key words, illustrations, maps, or photographs to prove that the information is correct.
Evidence
The author has a specific reason or purpose for writing the passage. It is not always stated directly in the text.
Authors Purpose
Comparing analyzes the similarities, while contrasting analyzes the differences
