Kayla is a stranger and human and Fred doesn't know if he can trust her.
Why can't Kayla understand Fred? Why can King understand Fred.
Fred and King are both dogs and can communicate. Kayla is human and cannot understand a dog.
What happened to Fred?
He got lost and lost his collar under a fence.
What night was Fred lost? How do you know?
He was lost on fourth of July/ Independence Day. Evidence: he smells like hamburgers, there were big booms (fireworks) when he got lost, it is summertime.
Why wouldn't King know how many nights ago fourth of July is?
He is a dog and doesn't understand time or numbers.
What is the problem in the story?
Fred is lost.
