It pulls things made of
metal, especially a kind of metal called iron.

Magnets only stick to some metals.
They do not stick to:
Plastic
They do not stick to:
Rubber
They do not stick to:
Cloth
So, if you try to stick a magnet to a rubber band,
it won’t work!
🧲 What are a magnet’s poles?
Every magnet has two ends. These are called poles:
One end is called the
north pole (marked N)
The other end is called the
south pole (marked S)

Do poles stick or push?
If you put N and S together,
they stick (this is called attract).
If you put N and N or S and S together,
they push away (this is called repel).
