The way in which different elements of an artwork are combined
Composition in Art
A relationship of equality in the proportions and arrangement of elements in a composition. It provides balance and order
Symmetry
Occurs when a figure is divided by an axis, and both sides are nearly identical (like a leaf or a human face).
Axial Symmetry
Occurs when elements are arranged around a center and repeat in a radial pattern (like a flower or a wheel).
Radial Symmetry
Tessellation
A pattern that covers a flat surface using shapes that fit together without leaving gaps or overlapping. It’s like a repeating puzzle.
Pattern
A design in which lines, shapes, forms and colors are repeated. The part that is repeated is called a motif.
Triangle
A polygon with three sides, three angles, and three vertices. Triangles are the simplest type of polygon and foundational in geometry and art.
Surreal Art
A style of art inspired by dreams and the unconscious mind, characterized by dreamlike, illogical, and bizarre imagery.
The picture boxes in a comic strip or graphic novel. They show parts of the story, a conversation, or action

Gutter
The space between comic panels; used to separate one panel from another.
The people, animals, or creatures in a story.
Characters
Speech Bubble
A shape that contains a character’s spoken words
A shape that contains a character’s unspoken thoughts. It often looks like a cloud
Thought Bubble
Gives extra information about what’s happening in the picture, like location, time, or character thoughts
Caption
A word that represents a sound (like BOOM!, CRASH!, ZAP!). Common in comics to show sounds visually
