What are roots?
They fix the plants in the ground, and they absorb water and nutrients from the soil.

thick roots and many small roots
What is the stem?
It supports the plant, carries water and nutrients to all parts of the plant.
What are the 2 different types of stems?
Herbaceous and woody stems
What are herbaceous stems like?
Thin, soft, and flexible. They are usually green.
What are woody stems like?
Hard and rigid.
What are trees stems called?
They are woody stems called trunks.
What kind of plants have short, woody stems that grow close to the ground?
Shrubs
What is responsible for making food for the plant?
Leaves
What are the 2 parts of the leaf?
Blade and petiole
What is the flat part of the leaf called?
Blade
What is the part of the leaf that attaches the blade to the branch or stem of a plant?
Petiole
