artifact
Produced, growing, living, or occurring natively or naturally in a particular region or environment When capitalized, it means the first people who originally lived in a particular place.
indigenous & Indigenous
A large unit of land or water containing its own special mix of species and environmental conditions
ecological region
evidence of any kind that comes from the time being studied Some of these are first-hand accounts or descriptions written down by people who were there. They can also be paintings, artifacts, historic buildings and more.
primary source
a description of history written later, that relies on primary sources for evidence Encyclopedias, articles, textbooks and documentary films are examples of secondary sources.
secondary source
something paid or demanded for the freedom of a captured person
ransom
a person whose work is keeping good relations between the governments of different countries
diplomat
a person who has been convinced to change to a different belief, such as another religion

a person who buys and sells goods especially on a large scale, with other colonies or foreign countries
merchant
a person skilled in making things, especially by using their hands
skilled artisan
a person who is bound to work without pay in the service of another for a specified length of time, esp. in exchange for the cost of travel, food, and lodging

an old-timey pharmacist. They mixed medicines and sold them to people who were sick.
aphotecary
a person who made things out of metal. They heated metal in a fire and then shaped it into tools, horseshoes, and other items using a hammer.
a blacksmith
a person who made and repaired shoes.
a cobbler
a person that grows crops and raises animals for food.
