    Things you might hear at a store that are indirect messages.

  • Mom asks the store worker: "Do you know where this item is?"
    Mom can't find the item and she wants help from the store worker.

  • You tell your brother that you like something and he looks at you and raises an eyebrow
    Your brother is saying that he's a bit weirded out by that choice. (You might rethink it.)

  • Mom says: "Oooo, that's really expensive!"
    Mom wants you to look at the price and pick something less expensive.

  • Girl says to mom: "I should have worn a sweatshirt in here."
    She is cold and wishes she had more clothes to keep her warm.

  • Mom says to boy: "Are you sure that's all you want?"
    The boy is picking out something small or inexpensive and could get something more.

  • Mom says to boy: "Do you REALLY need that?"
    Mom is telling the boy that he doesn't need it and she wants him to put it back.

    The boy is saying he wants whatever he is looking at and he wants his mom to buy it for him.

  • Cashier at self-check out says: "This one is open."
    She is telling you to move to the check out and start scanning your things.

  • Someone is looking at something you need to buy too and their cart is right in front of what you need. You say: "Excuse me, I just need to grab that."
    You are asking them to move their cart so that you can reach the item you need.

  • Mom says to husband: "We probably need some band-aids."
    They are out of band-aids and she is telling her husband to go find some band-aids. (If you didn't get this one, it's okay, there might be someone hurt at home)
