Anything a character other than the protagonist does that affects the direction in the which the main action moves and is often an obstacle but may be unexpected help
major complications
The turning point when the protagonist must make a choice that leads to the ending of the story. It is the most significant complication (trigger) It leads to the major structural climax (heap) It occurs at least halfway through the script
major crisis
The single moment when the protagonist does something that resolves the main action.
Major Structural Climax
The single moment that is the emotional high point of the story for the spectator.
Major Emotional Climax
The situation created by the major structural climax and the new state of balance at the end of the text
Resolution (aka Denoument or Ending Stasis)
A powerful, earth-shattering discovery alters a character’s belief about how the world works. The change in a character’s worldview causes them to make a deeply meaningful, often extreme choice.
