Expected vs Unexpected behaviors
Your teacher walks into the classroom with a very bright colorful shirt. You say "are you a part of the circus?". Your teacher looks confused. Is this an EXPECTED or UNEXPECTED behavior? Why?
UNEXPECTED. Your comment implies that he looks like he belongs in a circus. Obviously your teacher is not a part of the circus. This hurts his feelings.
You see someone walking with crutches and stare at them while saying "what happened to you?". Is this an EXPECTED or UNEXPECTED behavior? Why?
UNEXPECTED. Staring and commenting about their injury will make them feel uncomfortable.
A friend is talking about their favorite video game. You interrupt them to say "I never liked that game" and start talking about your favorite game. Is this an EXPECTED or UNEXPECTED behavior? Why?
UNEXPECTED. Your friend may feel hurt because you interrupted them and don't want to talk about their interests.
