  • Maria loves reading English novels in her free time. She enjoys the stories and feels proud of improving her language skills while reading for fun. She doesn't expect any rewards for doing this; she just loves the activity itself.
    Intrinsic Motivation (IM): Maria’s motivation comes from the joy and satisfaction she gets from the activity itself.
  • John studies English because he wants to pass the exams and get a good grade to impress his teacher and parents. Although he doesn't particularly enjoy the subject, he focuses on the end result of receiving praise for his performance.
    Extrinsic Motivation (EM): John’s motivation is driven by external rewards: good grades and approval from his teacher and parents.
  • Sarah has been attending her English classes, but she doesn’t feel connected to the lessons. She often finds herself daydreaming during class and feels frustrated because she doesn't see the purpose of learning English.
    Amotivation (A): Sarah’s behavior is characterized by a lack of motivation. She doesn’t feel connected to the activity.
