Laqueta has a board that is 7 feet long. First, she cuts off a piece that is 1 1/2 feet long. Then Laqueta cuts the remaining board into 6-inch pieces. How many 6-inch pieces does she make? Show your work.

A protected wildlife park has two elephants. One has a weight of 11,028 pounds and the other has a weight of 5 1/2 tons. A platform can hold 22,000 pounds. Can the platform hold both elephants? (Hint: 1 ton = 2,000 pounds) Show your work.
