If I hadn't lost my passport last week, I could / would have boarded the plane.

If I hadn't seen the parking sign, I wouldn't have parked on the high street and wouldn't have recieved a parking sign.

Last week, you injured your neck in a car accident because you weren't wearing a seatbelt.

If I had been wearing a seatbelt, I wouldn't have injured my neck in a car accident.
